5. Transaxle AssemblyRepair of internal transmission or final drive components requires that the transaxle be removed for disassembly. Once removed, the final drive and transmission can be separated and replaced or repaired individually. Remanufactured transaxles are available through authorized Volkswagen dealers, and offer some savings over the outright purchase of a new unit. To correct fluid leaks, the drive flange oil seals and the governor O-ring are replaceable with the transaxle installed in the vehicle. The transaxle must be removed to replace any other faulty oil seals. |
