ATF Pump

The automatic transmission fluid (ATF) circulates through the transmission under pressure. The ATF pump that creates this pressure is located in the extreme left-hand end of the transaxle case, the end farthest from the engine. A long pump driveshaft passes through the center of the hollow turbine shaft to drive the ATF pump. The splined pump driveshaft is connected directly to the torque converter housing, so ATF circulates whenever the engine is running.
